The Malaspina Art Society (MAS) is a charitable non-profit organization that operates a public art gallery at Malaspina University College, which exhibits the work of local and visiting artists.

Exhibitions generally begin on the last Wednesday of each month with a reception on Friday of the same week from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm . Please see Exhibitions 2008 for the upcoming schedule.

In addition to the regular exhibitions at the Malaspina Exhibition Centre MAS displays the work of Powell River artists at the Culinary Arts Program restaurant located in Brooks Secondary School on Marine Avenue in Historic Townsite.

Malaspina Art Society is the custodian of the Powell River Permanent Collection of Fine Art, which is valued at over $20,000.

If you are interested in advancing the visual arts in Powell River, please join us! Everyone is welcome at the monthly meetings, which are held the first Monday every second month. See the Community Calendar for the next meeting.

MAS has helped create and support an exciting community of visual artists. Included in our “friends and family” are Malaspina University College, Timberlane Quilters, the Camera Club, Cranberry Arts Collective and dozens of individual members.

Professional level artists, emerging and recreational artists, and arts supporters are welcome. Membership privileges include an invitation to monthly exhibition openings at MEC, participation in annual MAS Members’ Group Show, 10% ‘Art Card’ discount at Malaspina University College (MUC) Bookstore, discounts to special MAS events and workshops, access to ‘Arts Resource Book’ at MUC Library, and monthly update of MAS Board Meetings.

MAS is a member of the Powell River Council for Arts & Culture, Coast Cultural Alliance, West Vancouver Arts Council and North Vancouver Community Arts Council.
