First and foremost a writer, I was in my mid-twenties before I ventured into the world of the visual arts. It started first with an urge to paint and then quickly developed into a natural curiosity to explore all forms of art. Over the past 5 years I have explored many artistic media, but most recently have found my calling in printmaking. Working in this medium I am able to bridge both my disciplines of art and of writing, often incorporating text, quotes, and poetry into my work.

While my influences in art are numerous, the purpose of my art is based on Magical Idealism, a philosophy developed by the 18th century German writer, Novalis. Magical Idealism proposes that at the centre of every human being there is a core of Love, and by becoming aware of that Love within we inherently see and create things of beauty. My art is an expression of my following of this concept, as I seek to be aware of this true nature within myself and others and draw from life. And just as the Love within us is universal, I seek to use universal images and symbols to speak from one soul to another with art. My images are also deeply influenced by rock’n’roll, Bohemia, my childhood freedom growing up on Texada Island, and the landscape and natural beauty of the British Columbia coast.
